Head Bobbing + Beta Plans?

Hello!

It's been a while since my last YouTube video, and this is actually the first itch devlog I've written!

I haven't made a ton of progress on the game within the past week or so. It was my spring break, which I took advantage of to relax and get a bit of a break from projects. I played through Tunic and had a lot of fun with it!

Today's work: head bobbing

Today, I added a subtle head-bobbing effect to the game when you move. Take a look!

As shown in the video, you can deactivate it in the settings if you don't like it.

When's the game releasing?

As I've stated on the main page for the game and in a few YouTube comments, I'm hoping to release a beta in early April. There are a few key things I want to have done before a beta is released:

  • Update the languages available in the game to include the most recent language contributions from volunteers
  • Improve the environment-change effect when winning
  • Make doors close automatically so that they don't all end up being open
  • Add some minor UI conveniences, such as notifying the player they can interact with an object

In a future version, I'd also like to revise the house layout a bit and improve the decorations, but that's probably unnecessary for a first beta.

Please note that this ISN'T a promise that the game beta will be available early April. My school responsibilities take priority over this project, so I usually only get to work on it in the evenings for an hour or two. I'd like to make progress on it as fast as I can, but I also want to put out a product of quality, and make sure I'm staying on top of my other responsibilities. If I run into more roadblocks, I'll do my best to post updates so that no one feels out of the loop.

I hope to have more news soon!
